EMPTY SPACE.

In ballet class today the ribbons and elastic popped out of my left pointe shoe because I didn’t sew them on correctly.  When helper lady in the class saw how I sewed them, she said, “Oh my gosh, I’ve never seen anyone sew their pointe shoes like this before.  And I mean, never.  I have to show Mr. Sellars after class.”  I felt like I was back in the 2nd grade when you draw something ugly, and another kid takes your drawing and makes fun of it to all the other kids.  Yup, I had that feeling.  And everyone in that class was staring at me.  I needed to run away.  When the class was over, I left when Mr. Sellars was in the restroom so she wouldn’t have to show him.  I just wanted to get out of there.

No matter how old you are nor how old you may feel, one embarrassing moment can make you vulnerable and take you back to when you were just a kid.  It’s funny how that happens.
